Baseball America named Yurendell De Caster as the Winter Player of the Year today. Congrats to Yurendell!
You can read about the award here: http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/news/060214winterpoy.html
As BA states, it isn’t easy to go over and focus on baseball in an area where you have to pack a weapon just to get to the stadium and play under less than optimal conditions. That speaks well for this young (27) man.
De Caster, better known as a 3B/utilityman, played RF for the Caribes, which was basically new for him. He’ll be playing for the Netherlands in the WBC so tune in and watch him play if you get a chance.
