I’m still on the road – thought I’d be home by now so short post tonight. Knowing I was going to still be traveling, I put the auto timer on one of my draft posts last night while under the influence. The good part was the Wordpress auto timer worked. The bad part was I setup the wrong post. One of the folks who help me with the blog noticed I had some spelling errors and other problems which didn’t set off a red flag because all my stuff is like that anyway, so I asked him to go ahead and correct what he could.
But then I received a couple of calls asking me to pull it and that’s when I realized I had tagged the wrong post (I have three drafts with the same title). I honored the requests. Sorry for the drama.

The Super Bowl was FAB-u-LOUS and went down as expected in my book. My only regret was that I wish I had watched the game in New Orleans instead. Did you make a few bucks with me?
–
We’re said to be in on older Japanese starter Hisanori Takahashi but that doesn’t make a bit of sense to me and I doubt we’ll see it happen.

There was a report running around South Florida circles about how Ryan Doumit’s name is no longer in the rumor circuit according to one national media writer. I couldn’t find the article anywhere. I agree with him that Doumit’s name is no longer the main topic of discussion around the game, but his name remains active to be sure. I’m not saying I’ve heard anything concrete lately because I haven’t, but I do know what I heard all winter and I do know that it’s rumored Kerrigan doesn’t want him behind the dish full-time.
I still say it’s very possible for Doumit to be dealt and I suspect we’ll see a spring training deal. We’ll see.

I know, I know, you want to know what the article was about that I pulled. It outlined why I believed it was impossible for the fans to believe in the Pirates blueprint as managed by Frank Coonelly and Neal Huntington. ‘Nuff said.
I’ll be back home in the wee hours Tuesday morning and begin my spring training look Tuesday night.

I believe you called both losers, and pretty much bashed them for having no vision, no plan, yada yada yada, pretty much the same thing you have been spewing for years.
Dude, you obviously missed a lot in the post.
I did a cliff notes, and I didn’t miss as much as you think. If anyone has read anything you have posted, that is exactly what you are essentially saying.
Well that and how our minor league system will not be any good until, what was it again, 2020 or 2022 or something?? How are minor league staff is inadequate, and will not get the minor leaguers to the point of helping, rather they will be more of a problem. Need I go on?
If our minor league staff was good then why was lynchberg the only ones to win a title in the whole minor league system. The Pirates have to hit homers on Pedro Alvarez, Tony Sanchez, Jose Tabata , Brad Lincoln and Donnie Veal right away to give the Buccos a shot to come close to breaking the long years of under .500 to get fans to come out so the pressure is putting on the nuttings to spend some. Veal replaces Duke, Lincoln for the interim goes in the 5 spot of the rotation until 2011 when the rotation is reorganized again. Alvarez needs to be the power pop we need in the middle of the order and Jose Tabata needs to develop in his future role leadoff man. With next waves of guys i have doubts the Pirates staff can develop them into winners on the field track record so far there’s none to speak of.
So when will we get to see the edited version of the post that was removed?
I won’t be putting it up – it was to edgy.
Jake, I don’t want to call you out or anything, but I’ve been reading your blog for years and I have never known you to hold back on a post because it was too “edgy.” I hope that this new place that bought the site isn’t censoring your posts because I really enjoy what you do and I know others do too.
It was nothing he hasn’t said before. I generally enjoy his writing but your not missing anything here, I read it.
It really seems to me that someone connected with the Takahashi story confused “Padres” and “Pirates”. This seems like the only sensible explanation for the whole thing.
looked to me that the article explained what a split contract was and used Kuwata as an example. I’m guessing the Padres offered Takahashi a split deal. We absolutely need a starter but we have 20 Takahashi’s laying around already.
In my opinion, Jakes calls it as he sees it. And what he sees at this time is there for all to see, crystal clear.
Only Pirates fans with blinders cannot see what Mr. Nutting & Co. are doing to this once proud and respected organization.
Total disrespect to Pirates fans!
Amen Pirate in Montana..
until we start seeing result on the big league field, I will continue to doubt this ownership group..
Proof is in the pudding…
at this point, all i ask for is to finish over .500
Why be a fair weather fan regardless of the reason.
neil
i feel ownership has treated us fans like dirt, so why should i put my heart into this team. My family had half season tickets at 3 Rivers from 1977 till closing and at PNC Park until last yr..I got tired of the product they were putting on the field.
I spent half my life at the ball park, I don’t think asking to play .500 ball, which is average by tht way is asking too much, do u ???
let me tell u, it’s easy for some of u Nutting lovers to continue to stick up for him, let me ask, where are your season tix located ??
Bonds24
Does ur season ticket plan get u more say or something. I think it gets u into the game. Im sorry u spent most of ur life in three river stadium. I have been to many games in the past probably 12-15 a year because of the distance from home to the park. I can go and watch MLB for pennies. Compared to what people pay in other parks. I know if they start winning people like u will flood back and raise my parking and stop my friday 1 dollar hotdogs. Im A Pirate fan rgardless of the product on the field or regardless of who owns them.
my point is Neil, we were told PNC Park was built to compete and keep our players…How is that working out ???
stop your dollar dogs..great…I go for baseball not hot dogs and fireworks or bobbleheads, so I guess I won’t be seeing those Nutting continues to fleece over.
“i’m a Pirates fan regardless of the product on the field”..
spoken like a true Nutting lover…Cause the product on the field, is bad, has been bad, and ain’t gonna get better anytime soon…
so don’t worry Neil, you can still get your dollar dogs, u cheapskate
neil-
it’s suckers like u that Nutting loves…Keep it up and he will stay forever…Great to know u go for the cheap parking and cheap hot dogs..Great…so good old Neil would rather the Pirates continue to stink(which they will) so he can park his Yugo cheap and stuff his face with dollar dogs..
There is no hope..With fools like Neil around
Edit by Jake — Bonds24, there is no reason to post under different handles.. just use one. And let’s refrain from calling others out because you can go do that at the other Pirate blogs or discussion forums.
Guys the thing is Nutting views PNC as a family place that he can market for cheap and sell out when he schedules Andy LaRouche Bobble Head night. As much as I despise the Nuttings, I love PNC Park. I will continue to go to a couple games a year because I love the Buccos. Am I mad that our ownership sucks and never seem to improve, OF COURSE, but I will continue to go and enjoy myself for the afternoon while Im there. I know what your going to say that im an apologist, but Im definitely not. Its very bittersweet going to the games though, the one hand you get to see MLB games in the nicest park in the league, but unfortunately on the other hand it is supporting the Nuttings. Obviously the prices will go up whenever the Pirates start winning, thats how business works guys, but until then Neil Im going to enjoy the cheap tickets and dollar dog nights too.
sometimes i go to the game and make money lol And im the fool. you all are just poor excuses for baseball fans. Like i said u will be the Roaches that scurry back to park once it a winner.
GeorgeH
not at all.. I still went last yr…I love PNC park like u..I just love how cheap fans like Neil are mad if i come back about no more dollar dogs..comical..U to cheap to have a few before u come to the park Neil???
George- no one can tell u not to go to PNC park..go, have fun.. I hate the Nuttings because as a sth, i have been lied to over and over..But i am no longer a sth..I still went to about 22 games last yr..Love PNC Park.
yeah Neil..I just hope u are saving your money for playoff tickets..If u can afford that on your Taco Bell salary… glad u can afford them dollar dogs..Most people are on dates on Friday nights..Not Neil..Go figure
Im talking about loyalty something u yinzers will never know. these are probably the same guys who wanted to run Arians out of town. Probably the ones who quit on the steelers thru the 80’s. Talk about the true meaning of fair weather fans. You really take a date to a baseball game. no wonder u soaked ur daddy up for those tickets back in the 70’s and 80’s in that shithole three rivers. You probably quit on him too when he cut off
wow, the added traffic to this site sure has increased the quality of the comments..
hahahahahaha
well Jsn. the points r valid… too many people in Pittsburgh r concerned about cheap hot dogs, bobbleheads, and fireworks and not the quality of play on the field..So, Nutting is still winning…
Tickets 3 bucks on stubhub
5 dollar parking from the black guy who cuts me a deal.
1$ hotdogs
Your right i am cheap.
