Bucs hammering out a deal to turn Maholm?

Chatter has picked up this morning and I believe we are on the verge of sending someone out the door. I’m not quite sure yet who, but I believe it’s Paul Maholm. It appears to be a three-way deal and we’ll get back a pitcher too. Stay tuned.. something is up and likely to go down here shortly.

For me, this is the most exciting part of the year!

Now, if we can only get a SS and defensive catcher!

It better not be Edwin Jackson, guy sucks

With a number of contenders (White Sox, Tigers, Angels, Twins, Dodgers, Padres…even the Phils and Cards) needing a 3rd baseman, does Andy have any trade value? Do we hold onto him in case we move Pedro to 1st, or Walker to catcher and have LaRoche play 2nd?

Regardless, I needed this post. I’m going crazy with the lack of Pirates rumors. I’ll make one up now just to kill some of the jitters. Lastings Milledge and Dan McCutchen to KC for Mike Aviles and Alex Gordon.

3 team deal with Nationals trying to get rid of Dunn. They want Edwin Jackson (white sox close to getting Edwin Jackson), do the Pirates fit in here somehow.

Jake, does some of the pirates trying to deal Maholm stem back to yesterday as the last straw with Maholm in the face of Kerrigan and like fired his glove in his face for the int walk to ian stewart.

    • Jake said:

shhh.. you aren’t dsupposed to mention things like that at the deadline Mike.. it’s a Cardinal sin in this game because you let others in on secrets. ;)

It was a observation Jake more then anything. MLB Network showed it i know Maholm in past said he would like to test the FA market maybe that incident accelerated a possible deal but you know do teams look at it and say are the Pirates desperate to deal Maholm cause he might be a possible bad character guy who knows.

NH is a cluster f%%%!! Bob Nutting needs to account for Capps being released by NH and Washington being able to land Ramos. Up until now I had faith in this regime; now I realize they are clueless boneheads.

  • BuccoMike said:

Well jake espn and mlb network put that on blast last night they showed that in the dugout.

Maholm to the Cardinals makes a lot of sense. Just do not know what they have in the farm system outside of Shelby Miller. the player named Ja or something like that seems to interest a few teams-mentioned in the Oswalt deal guess we shall see….

Cardinals is in the bottom tier of systems. Shelby Miller, John Jay, Allen Craig, Fernando Salas , there’s a few others in the lower tiers.

LOL @ White Sox trading Dan Hudson and their Top Lefty pitcher(Holmberg) in the organization for Edwin Jackson.

    • Jake said:

don’t be shocked if you see Jackson flipped. ;)

      • BuccoMike said:

White Sox are focused on Dunn big time and Nats like Edwin Jackson but i think it takes another prospect or two to get him. Jake, have you noticed people are paying high over the last day for good prospects or players- Wallace for Gose, Hudson and Holmberg for E-Jax, Lucas May and prospect(whos name i forget) for Scotty Pods. Indians paid for Giovanni Soto in the deal for Peralta – 1.7mil for A+ pitcher with some nice upside still raw.

Looks like NH just told DK that he would be interested in moving Duke or maholm for the right package. I’m thinking Dunn to the White Sox, maholm to the Nationals, Jackson and the catching prospect(Ramos or Flowers)to us.
    we shall see.updates???

I would think Maholm talk is fizzing out with Dodgers talking to the Cubs on Lilly and probably The Riot for prospects.

  • Polka said:

There goes one of the few Aki Iwamura match-ups as the Rangers just got Christian Guzman.

Maybe we can get James McDonald and a prospect from the Dodgers for Maholm.

  • Jake said:

hang on – Maholm is in play. NH has at least two offers.

  • Dove Jails said:

    And those offers are?

    • Jake said:

I’m not on the phone Dove Tails.. I don’t know. I’ve just been picking up circuit chatter over the last seven hours. More than Maholm are in play.. sounds like Carrasco and Maholm to me but we’ll see.

Maholm to Padres or that they are talking not true according to Tom Krasovic and Dan Hayes (4:20est). Tim Brown from Yahoo at 3:12 CST said that Maholm to San Diego was close to Done

I am sad to say the we are parting ways with Saurkraut Sal, for we have recieved an honor that we feel is fair. I would like to stress that this trade was not initiated because of Sal’s recent facebook comnents. In return we will recieve a bag of potatoe chips that we feel are capable of one day reaching the big leagues as they mature and refine their skills at are potatoe academy in Idaho. One particular chip that we are very excited about has an average to below average four pitch mix, ala Dana Eveland. I know one of the other chips has recently had knee surgery and our scouts have not had a good look at him, but we are optomistic that he will have more mobility than Aki Iwamura. I know we have proclaimed many times that we are done with trades and we are done with are prospect accumulation process but you better believe that we will trade any of our high priced players for another 50 cent bag of chips at any time.

Maholm talks on the fizzle again it seems.

I meant offer not honor… Dont know why i typed that way… Lol oh well, im as screwed up as the front office. I was nervous cause Frank Coonelly was looking over my shoulder and it was scary the potatoe filling out of me and Opie.
